Iulian Serban
Iulian Vlad Serban is a Ph.D. candidate at University of Montreal, where he investigates the integration of deep learning models with reinforcement learning methods – research which now falls under the umbrella term "Deep Reinforcement Learning". In particular, his current research focuses on dialogue and question answering systems. His work has been published in major machine learning conferences, including Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS), Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP) and Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL). Iulian is jointly supervised by professors Aaron Courville and Yoshua Bengio, and he collaborates extensively with professor Joelle Pineau at McGill University. Before starting his PhD, he obtained his master degree MSc. Machine Learning in 2014 from University College of London. Prior to that, Iulian studied theoretical mathematics and statistics at the University of Copenhagen. More information is available at: http://www.iulianserban.com.
